Our History

Falling Spring Presbyterian Church was founded in 1893 with land donated from the Griffith and Mann families. With lots of donations and volunteered labor, the building was finished in 1897 with R. D. Carson as the first installed pastor. The church was a one room building with a wood stove for heat and oil lamps for lights. Worship service and Sunday school were both held in the sanctuary, until 1929 when the pastor’s office and the attic were used as well. In 1952 the church began additions of the basement, a fellowship hall, a small kitchen, and two indoor bathrooms.

In 2015 the church joined the EPC and became Falling Spring Evangelical Presbyterian Church.

In 2019 Mike Matlack became our newest pastor. Mike was born in Taegu, South Korea and adopted when he was six months old. He grew up in the small town of Titusville, New Jersey with his parents and younger brother. He graduated with his master’s degree in Special Education and English in 2011 and taught in the public-school system of Hunterdon County. In 2015, Mike felt the call to seminary and graduated in 2018. In the summer of 2019, he was called to serve as the pastor of Falling Spring EPC. Mike’s faith has always been important to him, and he has been blessed to serve in leadership capacities in InterVarsity Christian Fellowship and as the Youth Director at his home church. He has served as a missionary stateside and in the Bahamas and the Dominican Republic. Mike enjoys the hiking in the outdoors, dabbling with singing and the guitar, and watching old movies. He is excited to do ministry at Falling Springs and is thankful to know Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior, to the glory of God!
